Farmers in Dumila trained on Good Agricultural Practices and Pest Management

MKULiMa LIFE recently trained farmers in Dumila village, Morogoro, Tanzania, on Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) and Insect Pest Management.

The training was organized by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania (ELCT) – Morogoro to equip farmers with practical knowledge to improve crop health, increase yields, and reduce pest-related losses.

Ms. Jenipher C. Tairo, representing MKULiMa LIFE, facilitated the session. She took farmers through key GAPs principles, with emphasis on early pest detection and proper crop inspection.

She also guided farmers on responsible pesticide use: when to apply, how often, and why timing matters to protect both crops and beneficial insects like pollinators.

“Early detection saves your farm. If you inspect regularly and act at the right time, you can manage pests without harming your harvest or the environment,” Ms. Jenipher told the farmers.

Farmers actively participated, asking questions and sharing challenges from their farms. The session ended with a call for farmers to put the knowledge into practice and to share what they learned with neighbors.
